The European Broadcasting Union has secured all exclusive media rights for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Europe. The new FIFA/EBU deal covers the rights for 37 countries in Europe. SBS is already the exclusive broadcast rights holder in Australia for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. SBS also offers live streaming of TV channels on your laptop and desktop computer or mobile via SBS On Demand.
Brazil’s largest media company Globo already have broadcasting rights with Fifa to deliver live coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. DirecTV, the pay-television operator, has exclusive media rights in the Caribbean for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in the territories of Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent, Surinam, Trinidad & Tobago and the Turks and Caicos. Fifa extended its rights deal in the Caribbean region with Sportsmax.
FIFA has signed a broadcast deal with China Central Television (CCTV) to grant CCTV exclusive media rights in China for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Under this agreement, CCTV has acquired all media rights, across all platforms and including live, delay and highlights rights. CCTV is the major state and public broadcaster in China, the FIFA World Cup will be available for viewing on CCTV’s multiple channels as well as on various new media and mobile platforms (OTT).
Al Jazeera has acquired the regional broadcast rights to the FIFA World Cups of 2022. The broadcaster will air games across the MENA region, The deal includes cable TV, satellite, terrestrial, mobile and broadband rights across 23 territories and countries.
FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar is the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, the international men’s football mega tournament contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA after every four years. The FIFA World Cup 2022 is scheduled to be held in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arabian nation and the second World Cup entirely contested in Asia. 32 teams will participate in the tournament.
Total 32 qualified teams will participate in the tournament, and will be divided into eight groups of four teams. Total 64 matches will be played in the competition (48 matches in group stage, eight games in Round of 16, four quarter-finals, two semifinal’s, one third-place game and the grand final). Top two sides from each group (16 teams) will advance to the knockout stage, and from the round of 16, eight-team will enter into quarterfinals, and winner team of four quarterfinals will reach into the semifinals. The four teams will compete in the semifinal’s for the final spot and winning teams from both semifinal’s will enter to play the grand final.
