Mason Rudolph will start in place of Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (left wrist) against the Bears.
After all, Aaron Rodgers will not be able to revive an old rivalry.
According to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero on Sunday, Rodgers' left wrist injury will prevent him from playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Chicago Bears.Steelers coach Mike Tomlin confirmed the news to CBS Sports' Evan Washburn.
"I'll provide you with complete clarity: He's not going to play today," Tomlin said. "He fought his tail off all week, but that's the prudent play to make for us as a collective. So he won't be playing this week."
Rodgers will be replaced by veteran backup Mason Rudolph, with youngster Will Howard filling in as his backup. Officially, Rodgers is no longer active.
Rodgers missed Wednesday's practice due to a fractured wrist sustained during the Steelers' Week 11 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He was also limited throughout the next two sessions.
For the first time in his career, he won't be able to play against the Bears as a member of the Green Bay Packers.
