Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Liverpool: Team news
Conor Bradley and Cody Gakpo are being evaluated by Liverpool to see if they can play on Saturday in the Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
While Gakpo has missed the last three games owing to a muscular injury, Bradley was substituted at halftime in last weekend's victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Arne Slot gave the two a "50-50" probability of participating in the Anfield match on Tuesday morning.
"Friday we will see exactly where he [Bradley] is [and] if he can be in the squad for the weekend," Slot stated during his news conference prior to the game. "Cody is a bit similar to Conor."
Alexander Isak is at the beginning of his spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on the ankle problem that included a fibula fracture.
The striker joins Wataru Endo, Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni as injury absentees.
Dominik Szoboszlai will miss the game through suspension and Mohamed Salah is away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.
Any concerns regarding the fitness of Florian Wirtz, who was withdrawn late on against Tottenham, have been allayed.
"He will be there for us again on Saturday," Slot revealed.
Jeremie Frimpong returned from a two-month absence by appearing as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 win in the capital.
That half-an-hour outing has put the Netherlands international in contention for a start in the 3pm GMT kick-off with Wolves.
Slot said: "In the weekend he was on a maximum of 30 minutes because he has been out for quite long. I think he is able to start this weekend if I make that decision."
Meanwhile, skipper Toti Gomes' injury diagnosis has handed a shock to the visitors.
However, Yerson Mosquera's return from suspension and Hugo Bueno's return to training have given the team a lift.
"Hugo trained today [Tuesday], so we'll see how he progresses throughout the next few days, but we're hopeful for him," stated head coach Rob Edwards. Toti will be sidelined for weeks due to his hamstring injuries.
"It's a big blow for him and the team, but it's an opportunity for other people and that's just the nature of the game at the moment. We've had a couple of muscle injuries over the last few weeks, and we have probably been pushing them harder and maybe risking one or two bits, but it's always a shame when you get one of those."
Emmanuel Agbadou and Tawanda Chirewa are both unavailable due to their involvement at AFCON.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Daniel Bentley, Leon Chiwome, Rodrigo Gomes and Marshall Munetsi remain out.
On facing Liverpool, the Wolves boss added: "I'm just thinking about the game itself, and we're looking forward to another really difficult game, but going to Anfield is always enjoyable. It's a real challenge, it's one of the most difficult ones, but one of the ones you look forward to.
"It's always an incredible atmosphere there, but it's just another game and other opportunity for us."
