Deadpool Officially Joins Marvel Rivals Season 6 As A Duelist. And A Strategist. And A Vanguard

Deadpool's appearance at Marvel Rivals is hardly surprising. It was inevitable that one of Marvel's most well-known characters would become a major hero shooter, even before his official reveal at this year's Game Awards. The concern was how NetEase's developers would incorporate the character's trademark swords, handguns, and meta comedy into a gaming environment. Which of the three jobs in the game will the devs give him after that? The reveal trailer for today suggests that it will be all of them.

That's right – Deadpool can be a Duelist, Strategist, or Vanguard depending on the player's choice. His appearance remains unchanged, but his max health and moveset will fit the role. Duelist Deadpool can throw his sword to rotate like a razor blade, Vanguard Deadpool gets a deployable, spherical shield, and Strategist Deadpool heals allies by shooting them or slashing them with his katanas. It wouldn't make sense for any other character, but for Deadpool, it just feels right.

The merc with a mouth's skills are, to put it mildly, exceptional even outside of the role-swapping. He will be able to level up his abilities as he battles his opponents, which will allow him to choose what to unlock from an in-game menu that resembles a book. In addition, he has the ability to take pictures with opponents he defeats and a technique that does harm to opponents when they miss shots. Deadpool even uses that photo mode to become unbeatable in the reveal trailer, absorbing Magneto's Ultimate Ability with his butt.

As is customary, Marvel Rivals receives additional enhancements in season six. On January 29, a new map of the Museum of Contemplation is released. A photo mode and The Clobberin' Club, where players can duel and broadcast their match on one of the street's enormous displays, are being added to Times Square, the combat-free lobby. Additionally, hero proficiency is being redesigned. More hero-specific prizes, such as in-game money and animated character avatars, have been added to the few tiers.

Finally, more team-ups are coming, while others are phased out. Peni will lose her team-up with Rocket, and Spider-Man will lose his team-up with Human Torch. However, Peni and Spider-Man are getting a new team-up (which grants Spider-Man a web bomb), and Jeff is getting a team-up with Deadpool, which creates a spinning toy that heals allies and covers enemies' screens with animated Deadpools.
